Company Introduction

Since our founding in 2008, Axelspace has been driven by the vision “Space within Your Reach.” We have continuously refined our unique micro-satellite technology with the goal of democratizing space technology to a wider population across the globe.

AxelGlobe started in 2019 to provide a new Earth observation infrastructure by launching multiple micro-satellites for its higher data frequency. In addition to a satellite launched in 2019, we have successfully launched Japan’s first four mass-produced satellites in 2021. We are currently operating a constellation of five Earth observation satellites, capturing images with a 55 km swath every 2 to 3 days, and providing data and solutions.

Building on our experience with our dedicated satellite business, we launched AxelLiner in 2022 to provide a one-stop service for satellite development and operation, helping customers quickly actualize their satellite business. In 2024, we launched our first demonstration satellite, “PYXIS,” bringing our total number of developed and operated satellites to 11.

Additionally, we received the highest award, the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award at the 22nd JAPAN VENTURE AWARDS in 2022, and was selected as part of “Technology Fast 50 2023 Japan” in 2023.

About the Role

The mission of a Satellite System Integration Test engineer is to design and execute integration tests of the satellite system which consists of satellite software and hardware. TThese tests verify that the system configuration and implementation are valid, based on analysis of satellite system, satellite operations, software, and hardware requirements and specifications. Since Axelspace frequently and continuously updates satellite software even after launch, test design and its automation are critically important to our company.

The Satellite System Integration Test Engineer will design and execute integration tests for satellite systems composed of satellite software and hardware. These tests verify that the system configuration and implementation are valid, based on analysis of satellite system, satellite operations, software, and hardware requirements and specifications. Since Axelspace frequently and continuously updates satellite software even after launch, test design and its automation are critically important to our company.

 

Job Responsibilities

• Based on an understanding of the satellite system architecture and the relationship between requirements and verification items, design various integration tests for the satellite system.
• Execution of various integrated tests designed, reporting test results to satellite projects, and managing test results for each version and configuration.
• Development, management, and improvement of test procedures, environments, and tools; test automation, CI/CD
• Support for problem resolution by software development engineers, hardware engineers, and other subsystem engineers
• Operate ground test satellites to validate on-orbit scenarios
• Other duties related to the above

 

Mandatory Requirements

• College or university graduation qualifications related to electrical, computer science, control engineering, mechatronics and other engineering.
• Technical Skills
  • Experience in creating and executing test plans and test specifications, and managing testing
  • Basic understanding of common hardware: microcontrollers, UART/SPI/I2C, RTC, etc.
  • Experience of Python and Docker
  • Comfortable with command line tools (i.e., bash, git, gdb, etc.)
• Language Skills (one of the following):
  • Business English or
  • Basic English and Business Japanese

業務概要

衛星システム統合テストエンジニアは、衛星ソフトウェアとハードウェアで構成される衛星システムの統合テストを設計し実行していただきます。これらのテストは、衛星システム、衛星運用、ソフトウェア、ハードウェアの要求事項と仕様書の分析に基づき、システムの構成および実装が妥当であることを検証するものです。アクセルスペースは打ち上げ後も衛星ソフトウェアを頻繁かつ継続的に更新するため、試験の設計とその自動化は当社にとって非常に重要です。

 

職務内容

• 衛星システムのアーキテクチャを理解した上で、要求事項と検証項目の対応関係に基づき、衛星システムの各種統合テストを設計する。
• 設計した各種統合テストの実行、テスト結果の衛星プロジェクトへの報告、バージョン・構成毎のテスト結果の管理。
• テスト手順・環境・ツールの開発・管理・改善、テストの自動化・CI/CD
• ソフトウェア開発エンジニア、ハードウェアエンジニア、他サブシステムのエンジニアによる問題解決のサポート
• 地上の試験用衛星の試験運用による、軌道上シナリオの継続的な検証
• 上記に関連するその他の業務

 

必要なスキル・経験

• 学歴：電気、コンピューターサイエンス、制御工学、メカトロニクス、その他の工学に関連する高専または大学を卒業
• 英語での会話に抵抗感がない方
• 技術スキル
  • テスト計画・テスト仕様の作成・実行およびテストの管理の経験
  • 一般的なハードウェアへの基礎的な理解：マイクロコントローラー、UART / SPI / I2C、RTCなど
  • Python, dockerの使用経験
  • bash、git、gdb等のコマンドラインツールの使用経験
