iOS Developer

Migaku is an innovative language learning startup. We're creating a platform that lets you learn languages by watching and reading content on Netflix, YouTube, and other sites, using our browser extension and mobile app.

We’re looking for a hard working and ambitious developer who has a ship-first mentality, an amazing eye for visual detail, gets stuff done, and isn't afraid of accumulating technical debt if it means we can ship sooner and grow faster. You should be ready to work quickly, learn new tech as needed, and deal with the difficult challenges that will surely arise as we start our next marketing push and grow faster. Your work will have a major influence and direct impact on the success of the company.

What you will do:

• Maintain and develop new features for the Migaku iOS app
• Integrate with our Kotlin Multi-platform API which provides business logic to implement new features
• Work together with other team members on the integration work mentioned above
• Interact with users to triage and fix issues
• Maintain releases on the App Store

You must:

• Implement pixel perfect versions of UI designs, and frame perfect and fluid animations
• Have worked as an iOS developer for 3 years+
• Have experience with Swift, UIKit, releasing apps on the App Store
• Enthusiastically learn new technologies if needed
• Speak very fluent technical English
• Be comfortable with, and effective working remotely with an international team across various time zones
• Quickly become a product expert and learn about all features and functionality of the Migaku platform

The ideal candidate:

• Has heard of Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) and interacted with it at some level before
• Has experience integrating Apple Pay
• Can start immediately
• Has a deep interest in and experience learning foreign languages
• Experience implementing OCR
• Is in a European or Asian time zone

Compensation and Benefits:

• Salary: 67k ~ 135k USD (10M ~ 20M JPY), with stock options for outstanding candidates
• 36 day holiday schedule - work hard, play hard (details to be shared in an interview)
• Remote work (office work also available in the case of a relocation to Japan)
• Japan visa sponsorship available to the correct candidate
