Cogent Labs is a Tokyo-based AI startup.

Since our founding in 2014, we have aimed to "make AI a technology that is useful in the real world," and have been developing AI products that support the operational efficiency of companies.

Our flagship product , SmartRead , is a service that automates document processing using AI and is used by many companies. Currently, we are also working on developing workflow automation and new AI products, including SmartFind , which utilizes search and conversational AI.

Recruitment background

Cogent Labs continuously develops and operates multiple AI products.

As a product grows, the role required of quality assurance is also expanding.

The QA organization we aim for is not one that is solely responsible for pre-release testing.

We prioritize quality from the requirements definition and design review stages, working together with the development team to create that quality. We also strive for continuous quality improvement by appropriately combining manual testing and test automation.

To further strengthen our quality assurance system, we are recruiting new QA engineers.

 

About this position

In this position, you will be responsible for all aspects of quality assurance for AI products.

My responsibilities are not limited to just conducting tests.

• Requirements Review
• Test planning and design
• Manual testing
• Test Automation
• Quality checks before and after release
• Quality improvement activities

You will be involved in the entire QA lifecycle, including tasks such as those mentioned above.

As our service is for Japanese customers, communication in Japanese is important. On the other hand, our engineering team consists of multinational members, and we use both Japanese and English internally.

At the time of joining the company, conversational English skills are sufficient. You will naturally become accustomed to communicating in English through your daily work.

In this position, you will be responsible for all aspects of quality assurance for AI products.

This role goes beyond simply running tests; it involves being involved in every phase of product development and building quality itself into the product.

 

Main duties

• Creating test plans and test designs
• Creating and executing test cases (manual testing)
• Bug reporting, analysis, and reproduction verification.
• Quality checks and verification before and after release
• Participation in requirements definition and specification review, and providing feedback.
• Designing, implementing, and operating automated UI/API tests
• Analysis of test results and suggestions for quality improvement.
• Bug investigation and improvement work in collaboration with the development team
• Conduct load tests and performance tests as needed.
• Consideration and implementation of AI-powered QA processes

Mandatory requirements

• Basic knowledge or practical experience in software testing.
• Experience in designing and conducting UI or API tests, or a willingness to learn.
• We are looking for someone who can work proactively and collaboratively within a team.
• Japanese: Native level or equivalent to JLPT N2 or higher
• English: Conversational level or higher (for team communication)
