Data Platform Engineer

estie has built one of the largest office real estate databases in Japan and develops and operates multiple products based on this data. Because data itself serves as a powerful competitive advantage in our business, we place a strong emphasis on data engineering.

To enable multiple product teams to collect, process, and store data with both high quality and speed, while also allowing teams to safely leverage data created by other products, we are building an internal data management platform.

To drive the development and continuous improvement of this platform, we are seeking a Data Engineer who can build a high-level data foundation based on solid knowledge and experience in data engineering.

 

Responsibilities

• Development and Operation of the Data Platform, and Promotion of Data Management
  • We are looking for someone to contribute to the development and operation of our Snowflake-based data platform, which powers the data pipelines used to maintain and manage real estate data.
  • As this platform handles data that is extremely critical to our business, you will also be responsible for formulating and promoting data management policies, including data security and data governance, so that users can utilize data with confidence.
• Initiatives to Improve Internal Operations Through the Use of the Data Platform
  • You will support the use of data to improve the operational efficiency of internal teams, including Corporate, Sales, and Customer Success.
  • More recently, we have been integrating SaaS products used by the Customer Success team with our internal data platform, while designing and developing data structures that enable seamless data utilization.
• Building and Operating Internal Analytics Infrastructure and BI Dashboards
  • You will contribute to the development and operation of analytics infrastructure that enables business teams, including Sales and Customer Success, to analyze internally accumulated real estate data and deliver value to customers through reporting, consulting, and other services.
  • You will also be involved in building and operating BI dashboards used daily by management and business teams such as Sales to visualize key business metrics, including revenue.

You will have the opportunity to work on the development of a data analytics platform that directly supports customer value creation through real estate data-driven reporting, consulting, and related services.

Specifically, you will take on highly challenging initiatives such as building data marts that allow business members without deep SQL expertise to work with data using simple SQL, providing standardized data analysis applications, and creating more ad hoc analytics environments by leveraging technologies such as generative AI and LLMs. At the same time, you will also help build mechanisms to ensure the quality of outputs.

 

Focus on new development and feature enhancements for KPI dashboards that are still evolving

While our BI dashboards have already contributed to business growth by supporting data-driven decision-making, there remains significant room for further development, including the addition of new features and improvements to existing functionality.

Because the platform has been designed and implemented with a strong emphasis on minimizing operational burden, it runs in a highly stable manner with almost no day-to-day incidents. This allows the team to focus on new development and feature enhancements for the data platform, rather than routine maintenance.

 

Play a central role in company-wide data utilization and business growth

In this role, you will serve as a core member in the development of data platforms used across the company, including advanced analytics platforms and management KPI dashboards. You will collaborate closely with a wide range of teams, including executive leadership, Corporate, business teams, and product development, while contributing broadly to the business.

Rather than simply responding to user requests, you will be deeply involved from the early stages of new business initiatives powered by data. From planning through delivery, you will have the opportunity to contribute end-to-end and play a meaningful role in driving the business forward.

Requirements

• Experience in designing, developing, and operating data platforms using data warehouses such as Snowflake and BigQuery, as well as ETL/ELT processes
• Hands-on experience in working with databases and data warehouses using SQL and/or Python
• Experience in collaborating with both internal and external team members to discuss and define business goals

 

Preferred Skills

• Experience in developing and operating solutions using modern data stack technologies such as Snowflake and dbt
• Knowledge of and development experience with cloud infrastructure such as AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure
• Experience in managing infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
• Experience in developing solutions using BI tools such as Tableau and Looker
