Description
About the role
We are looking for a Full Stack Engineer to join our Engineering & Research Division.
PowerX develops and delivers energy storage and power transfer solutions, including battery systems, EV charging systems, and related energy management technologies. This role will focus on the development of software applications that support the operation, automation, and optimization of these energy assets.
In particular, you will lead server-side development for our Energy Management System applications. The Energy Management System serves as the intelligence behind our battery solutions, enabling automation, monitoring, optimization, and operation across various electricity markets and use cases.
Although this is a full stack position, the role is especially focused on backend and server-side development. You will design and implement scalable, reliable, and secure backend systems that connect energy assets, cloud services, web applications, mobile applications, and operational tools.
Job Scope
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable, reliable, and secure backend systems for PowerX’s energy-related applications
- Develop server-side logic and APIs for web applications, mobile applications, and services related to energy management, battery management, charger management, and asset management
- Build backend systems that support automation, monitoring, optimization, and operation of battery and energy infrastructure
- Design software architecture that can handle increasing data volume, device connectivity, and operational complexity
- Collaborate with frontend engineers to integrate user-facing applications with backend services
- Collaborate with cloud, SRE, embedded, edge, EMS, and product teams to ensure end-to-end system reliability
- Maintain and improve backend infrastructure to meet evolving product and business requirements
Requirements
- Software development experience using JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, Kotlin, Go, Rust, or similar languages
- Strong backend development experience, including API design, server-side application development, and system integration
- Fundamental computer science knowledge, including algorithms, data structures, networking, operating systems, and databases
- Experience designing and developing scalable, reliable, and maintainable software systems
- Experience with cloud-based application development and modern software architecture
- Understanding of performance, scalability, security, and reliability considerations in backend systems
- Ability to collaborate with frontend, cloud, SRE, embedded, edge, and product teams
- Ability to translate business and product requirements into technical design and implementation
- Business-level English communication skills
Preferred Experiences
- Experience with GCP, AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, or other cloud-native technologies
- Experience with microservices architecture, gRPC, REST APIs, or event-driven architecture
- Experience developing systems that handle IoT devices, time-series data, operational data, or large-scale data ingestion
- Experience with energy management systems, battery systems, EV charging systems, asset management systems, or industrial software
- Experience with VPP, demand response, electricity markets, OpenADR, or energy optimization systems
- Experience with databases, message queues, monitoring, logging, and observability tools
- Experience working with SRE or DevOps teams to improve deployment, reliability, and production operations
- Experience contributing to open-source software
- Japanese communication skills are a plus
