About the Role

As a Business Unit CTO, you will serve as the technology leader responsible for driving the growth of a business unit through engineering and technical strategy. This role requires executive-level decision-making across business, organization, and technology, with direct accountability for business outcomes as a member of the leadership team.

To maximize execution speed, estie operates under a business-unit structure. Each business unit functions similarly to an independent startup, bringing together engineers, product leaders, and business professionals under a single organization with substantial autonomy and decision-making authority.

You will have broad ownership over engineering within your business unit, including organization design, technology selection, and budget allocation. Product priorities and development initiatives are determined through close collaboration with business leaders, ensuring that technical and business perspectives are aligned.

Your primary mission is to define and execute the technology strategy for your business unit. While contributions to company-wide initiatives are welcome, your main focus will be helping your business unit achieve growth through technical excellence and strong engineering leadership.

• Create and maintain an optimal development environment that balances delivery speed, team growth, and system reliability
• Embody and promote estie's culture within your business unit
• Communicate technical topics and decisions effectively from a business perspective
• Lead project management and people management initiatives as needed

 

Team Structure

You will collaborate closely with experienced leaders, including the company CTO and other Business Unit CTOs. While Business Unit CTOs have a level of autonomy comparable to startup founders, they are supported by regular discussions and collaboration with fellow technology leaders and executive management. You will have significant ownership without having to make critical decisions in isolation.

Required Qualifications

• Experience serving as a CTO, VP of Engineering, or an equivalent leadership role within an engineering organization consisting of several dozen engineers
• Extensive software engineering and engineering management experience
• A proven ability to serve as a role model and mentor for engineers and engineering leaders
