Overview

At Money Forward, we are dedicated to transforming financial services using advanced technology. With over 50 services for individuals and businesses, including popular products like Money Forward ME and Money Forward Cloud, we help make managing money easier. We use cutting-edge “account aggregation” technology to gather user data, turning it into useful insights for our customers.

Within the Money Forward Business Segment (MFBS), Money Forward Cloud is a component-based cloud ERP composed of multiple service groups. While these groups provide flexibility for users to choose combinations based on their needs, developing them in isolation can lead to data silos, inconsistent user experiences, and reduced development efficiency. To solve this, our Platform Product Division (PPD) builds the common foundations that unify these services and ensures their stable use across the company.

Our division is responsible for developing and managing shared microservices and backend systems that power workflows and platform functionality across Money Forward Cloud. We work to standardize services, improve collaboration across products, and enhance performance and scalability. By organizing complex system logic, addressing technical debt, and documenting our knowledge, we aim to create a reliable, maintainable, and future-ready platform that delivers consistent value for both developers and end-users.

Main Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for building out and supporting our API Platform, which includes our authorization/authentication services, API Gateway, and MCPs.

The API Platform Development Team is responsible for supporting the development and deployment of public APIs across the entire Money Forward Cloud (MFC) product suite. Our services are used mainly by other development teams within Money Forward but have some exposure to our end-users as well.

You will be contributing to a foundational pillar of the MFC experience, supporting rapidly accelerating API development by product teams as we work towards being Japan’s #1 AI Native FinSaaS company.

Specific duties include:

• Develop our API Platform using primarily Go, with some JavaScript/TypeScript and React for our user interfaces
• Enable product teams to rapidly expand and deploy their API suites, ensuring that our platform is reliable and secure
• Write scalable, robust, testable, efficient, and easily maintainable code
• Be a leading voice within the team in both technical and product discussions
• Assist product teams and customers (via Customer Service members) with any inquiries or support requests they may have
• Understand the functional requirements defined by the Product Manager, and break them down into clear technical system requirements
• Collaborate with team members, Engineering Manager, Product Manager, and any other stakeholders
• Ship software to the production environment
• Ensure that our critical components are well monitored in production, and respond quickly to any issues or outages

Required Skills and Experience

• Computer Science/Engineering Bachelor’s degree or related technical field
• 5+ years of software development experience
• Experience with OAuth/public API authentication schemes
• Experience with RDBMS
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum team
• Team player with strong interpersonal skills
• Solution-oriented and result-driven
• Willingness to work with AI tools to enhance your productivity
• Successful track record of developing quality software products and shipping production-ready software

Preferred Skills and Experience

• 3+ years of experience with Go
• Experience with public cloud services such as AWS or GCP
• Experience with AI-accelerated development (Claude Code, Codex, etc.), as well as an AI-focused software development life cycle (automated code review, minor defect resolution, etc.)
• Experience with platform service development and operations
• Experience with system architecture and infrastructure design
• Experience leading projects or mentoring engineers
• Experience with CI/CD
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes

Language Requirements

• Business level English proficiency (TOEIC score of 700 or above equivalent).
• Japanese proficiency is not required but an interest in learning or improving is preferred.
