Who We Are Looking For 

As a Senior Graphic Designer, you represent a depth of craft in brand creation, visual storytelling, and prototyping and are in constant pursuit of meaningfully engaging users in clear, emotionally impactful ways.

In this role, the Senior Graphic Designer will report to the Head of Design.


What you’ll do at Moon:

Senior Designers at Moon participate in all venture phases, from strategy, to launch, to optimization.

You will work collaboratively across a global, multidisciplinary community while often planning, prioritizing, and executing Communication Design–specific activities autonomously within a venture team.

On any given day, you will be expected to work iteratively across initial concepts, user flows, visual design, prototypes, and more and will often lead individual workstreams within your team.

Whether you’re making an early idea tangible in the concept definition phase or defining how brand shows up in an MVP, you will be responsible for a bringing attention to detail and care for design execution throughout.

The must-haves:

  • 5+ years of communication design experience
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work across multiple time zones (we are global!)
  • Ability to autonomously lead communication design specific workstreams with little support from others
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize and present insights, and articulate design rationale to a multidisciplinary team
  • A hands-on “no job is too small” mentality
  • Passion for design: Able to distinguish between ‘good’ and ‘great’ and are able to not only identify best practices, but push boundaries and explore new territory
  • Experience at the intersection of brand and UX/UI
  • Experience crafting brand identities for new products/services
  • Ability to create and/or evolve brand expressions
  • Experience sketching storyboards, journey maps, and design provocations
  • Confidence in providing Communication Design specific guidance to the venture team and EIR (Entrepreneur-in-Residence)
  • Familiarity with prototyping and collaboration tools such as Figma, Miro, and Notion
  • Experience defining and implementing art direction in support of product vision
  • Experience collaborating closely with Program Managers, Engineers, and other Designers
  • Familiarity translating human centered insights into tangible design concepts
  • Business level fluency in English


The nice-to-haves:

  • Experience in motion graphics and/or filmmaking
  • Experience utilizing design thinking and/or human-centered design
  • Knowledge of the technology/creative industry
  • Experience working with startups or venture incubation
  • Business–level fluency in Japanese speaking and comprehension
  • Able to travel for business especially between Moon offices (Silicon Valley and Tokyo)
