About Qubitcore
Qubitcore is a deep tech startup originating from the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) and founded in 2024.
The company is developing and delivering next-generation ion trap quantum computers designed to tackle problems that are computationally intensive, in fields such as drug discovery, climate modeling, financial simulations, and generative AI.
Its mission is to bring quantum computing into real-world applications with greater speed and precision.
Qubitcore’s headquarters is located in Yokohama, while its R&D center operates within the OIST campus in Okinawa. Currently, the team consists of 6 members, working closely with OIST to realize Japan's first distributed quantum computer.
Qubitcore's distributed architecture connects multiple quantum processing units (QPUs) via photonic links to form a high-performance, networked quantum system. This approach enables large-scale quantum computation that was previously impractical, opening new frontiers in quantum technology.
