About the Role
At Axelspace, we operate satellites that we design and manufacture in-house and launch through rocket providers, using our proprietary satellite operation system. The Satellite System Automation Group at Axelspace, guided by the mottos "Operate to automate" and "Automate all," is continuously advancing the automation of our satellite operation system. We are responsible for the entire satellite operation, handling daily tasks while also working on automating insufficiently automated aspects of existing missions, and continuously developing new features and conducting requirements analysis for new missions.
Satellite Operations Engineers play a crucial role at the beginning of this automation process. They analyze various telemetry data generated during satellite operations to identify issues, and then collaborate with the DevOps team and the Satellite Bus Development team to pinpoint the root causes of these problems. Their responsibilities also include executing commands for temporary solutions to issues, and developing operational and monitoring tools to enhance operational efficiency.
Job Responsibilities
As a member of the Satellite System Automation Group, you'll collaborate with other team members to perform the following tasks, along with other assigned duties:
- Analyze telemetry data during off-nominal satellite conditions and identify issues. You'll also develop automation plans with the DevOps team and Satellite Bus Development team to resolve these problems.
- Understand satellite bus specifications and execute commands for ground control.
- Design and implement satellite monitoring plans.
- Develop tools to streamline commanding.
Mandatory Requirements
Favorable Requirements
- Business-level English proficiency.
- Front-end application development experience using TypeScript and modern frameworks such as Nuxt, Vue.js, and React.
- Experience, knowledge, or qualifications related to artificial satellites, including ground station operations and telemetry and command (telecom) operations.
- Experience in the design and development of artificial satellites and their components.
About Axelspace
Axelspace is a pioneer in the micro-satellite industry. Founded in 2008, they want to democratize space technology for daily use.
They started their AxelGlobe business in 2015 to provide a new Earth observation infrastructure using micro-satellites. They also used the first mass-produced satellite production tech in Japan to launch 5 satellites from 2019 to 2021.
With their new service, “Axel Liner,” utilizing a small-satellite mass production system, they can use their satellite projects to support clients outside the space industry.
As the world faces pivotal stages in democratizing satellite development and satellite imagery, Axelspace is actively looking for people who want to take on the challenge of making a global impact with micro-satellite technology. If this is something that excites you, join Axelspace in making their vision of “Space within your reach” come true.
