Roles

We’re currently looking for a senior software engineer (Python) to join our fast-paced, growing team. As part of the engineering team, you will be responsible for building cloud-security solutions used by thousands of enterprise companies. Our flagship product, HENNGE One, provides functionalities ranging from access control, email filtering, online storage, and email archiving. We focus on implementing state-of-the-art security functionalities, ensuring SLA 99.9% in distributed fault-tolerant deployment, and providing the best user experience to our customers. [Responsibilities]

Design, develop, and maintain innovative features based on business needs
Design scalable and fault-tolerant architecture in a distributed cloud deployment
Ensure high-quality deliverables through CI/CD pipelines, tests, and documentation
Improve team synergy and mentor junior engineers
Collaborate with Design, Product Management and Customer Success teams to continuously improve the product

[Requirements]

Minimum Qualifications

At least five years of experience working with Python for backend development
Strong background building scalable web applications in Python
Ability to mentor junior engineers and work collaboratively in a team environment
Experience with cloud infrastructure, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
Ability to automate deployments via CI/CD pipelines
Understand the importance of clean code and software documentation
Fluency in English (Japanese is not required)
Interested in open source or tech community activities

Nice to have

Degree in Computer Science or other related technical fields
Experience building large-scale distributed systems
Experience in cloud computing platforms, especially AWS
Experience with building SaaS products
Knowledge of web security concepts and technologies related to access control or email-related field
Knowledge of DevOps tools and practices (CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code)
Knowledge of Linux / MacOS / Unix-like environments
Team leadership experience

【Compensation】

8 to 12 million JPY annually (English Allowance & Physical Communication Allowance inclusive)

[Benefits]

English Allowance and Advanced Language Expert Allowance: JPY 10,000 ~ JPY 130,000 per month, paid alongside base salary, if the employee fulfills the requirements.
Physical Communication Allowance: JPY 2,000 per day for coming to the office and interacting with other employees, paid out as a bonus according to the number of days.

Transportation allowance (maximum of JPY 35,000 per month).

Japanese Language Policy
Japanese skills are a prerequisite for positions that require communication with Japanese speaking clients or third-parties. It might not be a requirement for software engineers, but it could be in other positions.

Engineering Jobs

(1) Online coding test

(2) Online interview with the team for 3-4 rounds

(3) For new graduates: Participate in a mandatory internship program at our Tokyo office from 2-3 days up to 6-8 weeks (internship cost will be covered) For experienced engineers, you may be asked to participate in a 2-3 days/ 2 weeks trial period

Remote Work

Work style
- Standard working hours: 10:00-19:00
- Flex time: (Core time 11:00-16:00, 1 hour lunch break)
- Shortening of work hours is available for employees taking care of a child or children of a certain age.
Tech Stack
We use a large variety of technologies at HENNGE and always encourage the use of the right tool for the job. We strive to always use the latest and most up-to-date technologies. Our back-ends are primarily written in Python or Go while our front-ends usually use Vue or React. We heavily use CI/CD tools to streamline our workflows. We use microservice architectures utilizing both containerization and serverless design. Our systems are mainly deployed on AWS with the use of GCP as well. We use a huge range of services provided by these platforms to support our applications.
