Senior Software Engineer / Solution Architect, AI-enabled Solutions

Gran Manibus is a technology-led business consulting firm under SCSK and Sumitomo Corporation. We work with Sumitomo Group Companies and their customers across industries such as manufacturing and logistics. At Gran Manibus, we are trying to evolve business consulting services to be more technology driven, and will provide modern consulting experience which will deliver greater impact to our client’s business.

Gran Manibus is currently building a modern product engineering and AI solution delivery capability. Our goal is not only to advise clients, but also to design, build, and deliver practical technology solutions that create measurable business value.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer / Solution Architect who can build AI-enabled enterprise solutions in complex and ambiguous client environments. This role is ideal for someone who has strong software engineering and architecture experience, understands how to apply AI technologies pragmatically, and enjoys working directly with business and technology stakeholders.

This is not a pure AI research role, and it is not a pure project management role. You will be expected to define problems, design solutions, build prototypes and MVPs, guide engineering teams, and help clients adopt modern software and AI-enabled ways of working.

As a Senior Software Engineer / Solution Architect, you will play a key role in delivering technology solutions for clients. You will work closely with client business stakeholders, client IT teams, Gran Manibus consultants and engineers to turn ambiguous business problems into practical technology solutions.

Your responsibilities will include:
1. Build AI-enabled Solutions
•    Design and develop PoCs, MVPs, and business applications using modern software engineering practices.
•    Build backend services, APIs, data pipelines, automation workflows, and user-facing applications where needed.
•    Apply AI technologies such as LLMs, RAG, semantic search, document processing, workflow automation, recommendation, forecasting, or optimization to real business problems.
•    Access whether AI is the right approach, or whether simpler software, data, or process solutions would create better value.
2. Design Practical Architecture
•    Translate business requirements into technical requirements, architecture options, and implementation plans.
•    Design scalable, secure, and maintainable architectures using cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
•    Integrate AI-enabled features with enterprise data sources, existing systems, and business workflows.
•    Provide technical guidance on API design, data integration, testing, deployment, and production readiness.
3. Work with Clients and Project Teams
•    Work with client business and technology stakeholders to clarify problems, requirements, and success criteria.
•    Communicate technical ideas clearly to both business users and engineering teams.
•    Support workshops, technical discussions, demos, and project planning sessions.
•    Take ownership of delivery together with consultants, engineers, and client teams.
4. Contribute to Team Capability
•    Support proposal development, technical estimation, demo creation, and solution explanation when needed.
•    Contribute to reusable solution patterns, reference architectures, and delivery accelerators.
•    Share engineering knowledge with team members and help improve Gran Manibus’ AI-enabled solution delivery capability.

 

What You Will Bring

We are looking for someone who combines strong software engineering, solution architecture, and client-facing communication. The ideal candidate has built real systems, not only advised on them.

Required Experience
•    7+ years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, data engineering, machine learning engineering, or related technology roles.
•    Strong hands-on software engineering experience, especially in backend development, API design, system integration, cloud-native development, or enterprise application development.
•    Experience designing and building client-facing or business-critical technology solutions.
•    Strong understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, scalability, reliability, maintainability, and security.
•    Experience with at least one public cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
•    Ability to translate business outcomes into technical requirements, architecture, delivery plans, and working prototypes.
•    Experience working with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, engineers, consultants, and client IT teams.
•    Strong communication skills in Japanese and English.
•    Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and taking ownership in situations where requirements are not fully defined.

Preferred Experience
•    Experience delivering AI, data, automation, search, analytics, developer platform, or enterprise software projects.
•    Hands-on experience with LLM applications, RAG, AI agents, semantic search, document processing, recommendation systems, forecasting, optimization, or other applied AI solutions.
•    Experience with AI evaluation, LLMOps, MLOps, CI/CD, observability, or production operation of AI-enabled systems.
•    Experience with modern application development using Python, TypeScript, FastAPI, React, cloud-native services, containers, serverless architecture, or data platforms.
•    Experience designing data pipelines, knowledge bases, enterprise search systems, or document processing workflows.
•    Experience supporting pre-sales, proposal development, technical workshops, or executive-level solution discussions.
•    Experience working in consulting, system integration, product engineering, or enterprise technology environments.
