Description
About the role
We are looking for a Firmware Development Engineer to join our Engineering & Research Division.
PowerX develops and delivers energy storage and power transfer solutions, including battery systems, charging systems, and related energy management technologies. This role will focus on firmware development for embedded systems used in our battery and energy-related products.
You will work closely with hardware engineers, electrical engineers, and software engineers to design, implement, test, and improve firmware that supports stable product operation in demanding field environments.
This role is closer to the hardware layer than cloud or application software development. The main focus is firmware running on microcontroller-based systems, including low-level drivers, peripheral interfaces, device communication, and hardware bring-up.
Job Scope
- Develop embedded firmware for microcontroller-based systems used in PowerX’s battery and energy-related products
- Design, implement, and maintain low-level drivers and firmware interfaces, including UART, SPI, I2C, ADC, PWM, GPIO, timers, and other peripherals
- Create firmware specifications based on datasheets, reference manuals, schematics, and product requirements
- Support board bring-up, hardware validation, and debugging in collaboration with hardware and electrical engineers
- Implement communication interfaces between firmware, embedded controllers, sensors, power electronics, and higher-level software systems
- Test, debug, and improve firmware using actual devices, evaluation boards, and lab equipment
- Analyze and resolve firmware-related issues found during prototyping, validation, production, or field operation
Requirements
- Experience in embedded firmware development using C or C++
- Hands-on experience with microcontrollers and peripheral interfaces such as UART, SPI, I2C, ADC, PWM, GPIO, and timers
- Ability to read device datasheets, reference manuals, and electrical schematics
- Experience testing and debugging embedded systems using tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or JTAG/SWD debuggers
- Basic understanding of embedded software architecture, memory management, interrupts, and real-time constraints
Preferred Experiences
- Experience with STM32, ARM Cortex-M, Renesas, NXP, TI, or similar microcontroller platforms
- Experience with RTOS or bare-metal firmware development
- Experience with communication protocols such as CAN, Modbus, RS-485, Ethernet, or other industrial communication protocols
- Experience in battery systems, BMS, PCS, EV chargers, power electronics, or other energy-related products
- Experience with firmware development for safety-critical or high-reliability products
