iOS Engineer（Swift)

Department Overview

The EC Solution Development Department's mission is to promote and expand the diversity of the marketplace. The team develops tools and services essential for the operation of merchants on Rakuten Ichiba, while also working on the expansion of various EC services and the launch of new EC services.
 

The Marketplace Expansion Development Section develops and operates services such as the J.League Online Store, Furusato Nozei (Hometown Tax), Rakken, and Raxy. Additionally, the team is responsible for launching new EC-related services with the goal of expanding and growing Rakuten's marketplace. This is a highly challenging department where you can gain unique and valuable experiences that are distinct to Rakuten.

Position: 

Why We Hire 

We are planning to launch a new e-commerce service and are looking for team members to build the iOS application for this service from scratch.
Our development teams are distributed across multiple locations, including Japan and China. As an iOS Engineer, you will collaborate with these teams to drive the development and delivery of high-quality applications.

You will be involved in the entire workflow of the project, from initiation to shipment, including system design, execution, and quality assurance. You will also focus on improving application quality with a sense of ownership and a practical approach to automation.

Position Details 

As an iOS Engineer, you will be responsible for a whole workflow in the give development project. You will be involved from project initiation until shipment through system design, execution, quality assurance. You will work on application quality, which requires a sense of ownership as well as a practical way to make it automated.  

• Design and build the iOS application for new service from scratch
• Pursuing high quality/performance and scalable application architecture  
• Test-Driven-Development with unit-testing  
• Aiming Agility into the workflow to reduce time-to-market  
• Eliminating manual efforts as much as possible  
• Mobile DevOps  
• UI Automation  
• Staying up-to-date with modern trends, technologies and frameworks  

Mandatory Qualifications: 

• Over 2 years experience in iOS native application development (Swift as primary)  
• Over 4 years professional software development experience out of mobile domain 
• Capable for modern best practices: Reactive programming, IoC(DI), OAuth, and Open ID Connect 
• Strong problem-solving skills to solve complex and uncertain situations 
• Motivation to drive things by yourself 
• Great communication skills  
• Practical understanding for Agile development methodologies 

Desired Qualifications:

• Over 5 years experience in both iOS and iOS nativeapplication development
• Experience implementing mobile UI with UIKit, Autolayout and related SDKs, including storyboard and animations
• Enthusiasm for CI/CD in mobile domain
• Strong leadership to encourage team members and guide them toward the group's mission
• Past mentorship for other team members and encouraged mutual growth
• Experience in designing UI automated testing with its scope including technology stack
