About Us

Autify, Inc. is a San Francisco-based startup founded by the first Japanese team to graduate from Alchemist Accelerator. Our next phase involves doubling down on GenAI with products like Genesis, a GenAI agent for software quality assurance.

About This Role: Engineering Manager (No-Code & Cloud Infrastructure)

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Japanese market No-code team and support our cloud infrastructure management. This role is a blend of software engineering leadership and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), ensuring our products remain stable, performant, and reliable as we scale.

Responsibilities

Operational Sustainability: Manage infrastructure, service procurement, and third-party providers to ensure production delivery stability.
People Management: Mentor engineers, support career development, and maximize productivity through goal setting and evaluations.
Infrastructure Excellence: Enable cross-team improvements on stability, performance, and cost-optimization using expert collaboration.
Agile Facilitation: Lead team ceremonies, remove blockers, and provide visibility into team metrics and infrastructure status.
Technical Strategy: Identify architectural challenges and technical debt, planning long-term improvements accordingly.

Required Qualifications

Leadership: 3+ years of Engineering Management experience.
Engineering Depth: 5+ years in software development (Backend experience is a plus).
Cloud & Infrastructure: 2+ years of hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
SRE Tooling: Proficiency in monitoring tools (Datadog, New Relic, Sentry) and incident management practices.
Specialized Knowledge: Experience with certificate management and PKI infrastructure.
Communication: High proficiency in English (working language).

Backend/Frontend: Ruby on Rails, Go, TypeScript, React
Infrastructure: AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, Packer
Monitoring/CI: Datadog, New Relic, CircleCI, GitHub Actions

Employment Conditions & Benefits

Location: Tokyo Office or Remote in Japan (Hybrid: at least once a week in office).
Compensation: Full-time permanent status, Unlimited PTO, twice-yearly bonuses, and Stock Options.

Japanese Language Policy
Autify doesn’t require Japanese skills for engineers. All oral and written communications (including slack and all documentation) is in English, so there’s no need for engineers to speak Japanese.
Visa Sponsorship
Autify’s flexible when it comes to helping you get a visa. They’re willing to hire people currently living overseas and sponsor your visa (as long as you fulfill the Japanese visa eligibility requirements). Autify also allows working from abroad while waiting for your visa to be approved.

They’re even open to having people continue to work remotely from outside of Japan longer-term as long as you can be available during normal business hours in the JST time zone.

Remote Work
Autify is working 100% remotely currently, so they don’t require members to live in Tokyo, if you are able to relocate to Japan. They also have quarterly in-person meetings in Tokyo but it’s not mandatory to commute to Tokyo once every three months. You can also join remotely.

Note: We welcome remote work from other countries as long as you can work during the JST time zone. Those living outside of Japan will remotely join quarterly in-person meetings.
Work style
Work hours: Full flex time (No Core Time!)

Autify allows their members to choose their own hours as long as they average 8 hours a day each month. There may be times when you’re expected to join meetings and you may need to be online during the JST time zone, but otherwise work hours are flexible.
