About The Role:

As a Technical Program Manager, you lead the cornerstone projects for Honda to deliver the future mobile apps and platforms for Honda and Acura globally. This is a critical part to grow Honda’s presence in the EV market while transforming the enterprise to product-driven, more agile culture.

What You Will Do:

Lead the mobile app and platform’s requirement gathering, technical specification alignment, and system integrations with Honda’s different regions such as Japan and Asia.
Create high quality documents as necessary.
Manage detailed project plans for different regions, track and report progress against agreed milestones.
Interface between product, engineering and QA to ensure requirements are trace-able, and deliverables meet acceptance criteria.
Identify, communicate, and manage project risks and issues; develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks and address issues that arise during the project lifecycle.
Lead cross-regional projects between Drivemode and Honda Japan and Drivemode US team

What we are looking for:

2+ years of Technical Program Management, Project Management or related experience in tech startups or large companies, ideally both, and 3+ years of experience as a software engineer or system architect.
Native level Japanese together with Business level in English.
Successful experience in large scale system design and implementations/integrations, and technical acumen to understand security, privacy, reliability, and safety aspects of the product.
Experience and deep knowledge in mobile app development (iOS and Android) and/or server and connection-heavy products such as notifications, subscription systems, and authentications and ID management.
Proactive, detail oriented, master of collaboration, ninja of catching dropping balls
We are a hybrid workplace and specifically seek individuals who are either located within a commutable distance from our office or are open to relocation.

Nice to Have:

Have worked on software products that interact with hardware (connected/ IoT devices), and better yet, in the automotive industry.
Basic understanding on automotive software development or dealer management software.
Have worked in a multicultural/ multi-region environment with many stakeholders and regions involved.

About Drivemode

Smarter, Safer, Connected driving in any vehicle.

We were founded in 2014 by entrepreneurs from Zipcar and Tesla Motors and acquired by Honda in 2019. In 2020, we released Honda RoadSync with Honda motorcycle team. In 2023, our CEO Yo Koga was named as Global UX Officer and Drivemode is set to expand further to transform Honda and win in the growing Electric Vehicle market with our expertise in software and user experience.

Our Current Work

Honda motorcycles
We are building a modern software platform for Honda's new electric motorcycles. The platform, including mobile app and infotainment system, will be deployed in many countries. Not only working with Honda's motorcycle engineers as one team, we also do our own in-house hardware prototyping to enable us to learn and move quickly. The goal is to provide seamless motorcycle rider experiences with deeply integrated software and hardware.

Honda/Acura vehicles
We are working on a vehicle companion app & platform for Honda's next generation electric vehicles. The app will be a critical part of connected service offering for any future Honda & Acura vehicles globally. We are working closely with Honda's industry-leading hardware and vehicle experts to design the software and hardware as one experience for users.

Our Future Direction: This is just the beginning for us; we expect to expand our scope into other software driven areas for Automotive while continuing to grow and build on more capabilities

Japanese Language Policy
Although Drivemode's official language is English, Business level + fluency in Japanese may be required depending on a role that needs communication with Japanese-speaking stakeholders.

Engineer Interview Process
Interview process at Drivemode varies from position to position.
Here is an example of a process for our Software Engineer:
- 1st step: Resume screening and Screening online test
- 2nd step: 1st Technical interview with a hiring team
- Further step: 2-3 more interviews with the management
Remote Work
Drivemode was already a “remote team” before COVID-19, and they will continue to be with offices in multiple locations. However, due to the nature of work that happens inside Drivemode, there is a need to be at the office together from time to time when developing new products that involve hardware prototypes.

- Our standard working hours: 9:00 - 18:00
* We currently do not have flex time set up in our company.
