You will work closely with the founding team to architect AI-native systems from the ground up and play a key role in shaping the company’s future.
You will have significant ownership over technical decisions and operate in a fast-paced environment where your work has a direct impact on the business.
Responsibilities
- Own product architecture and drive key technical decisions
- Contribute to the design and development of data infrastructure
- Design and enhance secure AI agent pipelines
- Build and improve systems for evaluating LLM outputs
- Collaborate closely with the CTO and founding team
Requirements
- Proficiency in at least one programming language
- Experience with Rust
- Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, choosing appropriate algorithms and data structures for real problems, and understanding how core concepts like networking and concurrency behave in real-world systems.
- Experience maintaining non-trivial distributed systems and data pipelines. This includes event streaming, consensus for replicated data, observability, monitoring, tracing across service boundaries and so on.
- Strong problem-solving skills and clear communication abilities
- Curiosity-driven mindset with a willingness to experiment, learn from failure, and iterate
- Conversational-level Japanese. Our engineering team primarily operates in English, but Japanese communication is required for collaboration with domain experts.

About Kurashi Tech
Kurashi Tech is a Tokyo-based AI startup building AI infrastructure for Japan’s regulated industries, starting with healthcare, nursing care, and welfare.
Their AI agents complete real operational work: visit records, care plans, reports, claims, returned-claim handling, fax/mail workflows, and shift creation. The company’s first product, AI Ope, has been adopted by more than 100 home-visit nursing stations, and is continuing to expand into care and disability welfare.
For engineers, the work combines harness engineering, distributed systems, LLM evaluation, data infrastructure, and integration with enterprises. Kurashi Tech is a small team backed by Rice Capital, building practical AI agents for complex industries where correctness, reliability, and real-world impact matter.
