Overview
At Money Forward, we are dedicated to transforming financial services using advanced technology. With over 50 services for individuals and businesses, including popular products like Money Forward ME and Money Forward Cloud, we help make managing money easier. We use cutting-edge “account aggregation” technology to gather user data, turning it into useful insights for our customers.
Within the Money Forward Business Segment (MFBS), Money Forward Cloud is a component-based cloud ERP composed of multiple service groups. While these groups provide flexibility for users to choose combinations based on their needs, developing them in isolation can lead to data silos, inconsistent user experiences, and reduced development efficiency. To solve this, our Platform Product Division (PPD) builds the common foundations that unify these services and ensures their stable use across the company.
Our division is responsible for developing and managing shared microservices and backend systems that power workflows and platform functionality across Money Forward Cloud. We work to standardize services, improve collaboration across products, and enhance performance and scalability. By organizing complex system logic, addressing technical debt, and documenting our knowledge, we aim to create a reliable, maintainable, and future-ready platform that delivers consistent value for both developers and end-users.
Main Responsibilities
As a Senior Product Engineer in the Employee Platform Department of the Platform Product Division, you will play a critical role in shaping the technical direction of our "MyPage" product.
Currently, our team is driving a strategic migration from platform-first to product-led development. In this role, you will be instrumental in architecting this transition, making top-level architectural decisions, and setting the standard for technical excellence. You will also leverage the latest AI tooling to accelerate our pace of delivery while building the necessary guardrails to enforce high software quality.
You will be working in a highly collaborative, global, and distributed environment, partnering closely with team members across our Kyoto, Tokyo, and Vietnam offices.
Specific duties include:
- Lead the technical direction and architecture for the MyPage product together with the Technical Lead.
- Design and implement scalable, robust, and maintainable full-stack solutions, primarily using Go, GraphQL, and React.
- Drive the transition toward a product-led development model from a technical perspective.
- Integrate and leverage AI development tools to improve team productivity while establishing guardrails to ensure code quality and security.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional, distributed team members (Product Managers, Designers, QA, and Engineers in Kyoto, Tokyo, and Vietnam).
- Monitor production environments using Datadog, and troubleshoot/recover systems efficiently when issues arise.
- Conduct code reviews, mentor peers, and elevate the overall engineering standards of the team.
- Maintain and occasionally support legacy systems built in Kotlin as needed.
Required Skills and Experience
- Computer Science/Engineering Bachelor’s degree or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience in backend development using Go.
- Full-stack mindset with the ability to contribute to frontend tasks when necessary.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound architectural decisions.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with frontend development using React and TypeScript.
- Experience with GraphQL.
- Experience with Kotlin (for maintaining legacy products).
- Experience introducing AI tools into development workflows.
- Experience working in a globally distributed Agile/Scrum team.
Language Requirements
- Business level English proficiency for daily communication with global teams (TOEIC score of 700 or above equivalent).
- Japanese proficiency is not required but an interest in learning or improving is preferred.
Who We're Looking For
- A shared belief in Money Forward’s Mission/Vision/Values/Culture.
