Senior Software Engineer - Backend

Description

Our Tokyo engineering team is hiring a senior backend software engineer to work on one of the company’s key components, included in all of our product offerings. The team’s mission is to provide a solid, tested and performant database and API layer that is shared across all deployments. Senior engineer’s role includes lateral collaboration with engineers who work on other components and product engineers responsible for application-specific code.

The position is available on site (our COVID policy is hybrid) or remotely (interest in relocation to Japan is very welcome). Our official language is English.

In this role, you will

• Develop Rapyuta’s core components
• Improve code quality at the same time
• Collaborate with developers from other teams
• Infuse the company with good engineering practice

Requirements

Minimum qualifications

• Python3.8+
• At least 5 years of software engineering experience
• Web frameworks (e.g. FastAPI or Django)
• Databases (RDBMS or NoSQL)
• Testing (pytest, GHA)
• Agile (e.g. Scrum)

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in leading a small team and mentoring junior developers
• Your projects start with poetry, black, isort, pre-commit, Dockerfile
• Distributed systems (multi-region, replication)
• You can hack an interface to asyncio
• Open-source contributions
