The Plant’s mission is to empower businesses to deliver innovative commerce experiences, expand market opportunities and make them leaders in Japan and beyond. We do this through innovative software solutions that solve complex challenges, delivering value with speed, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness.

Working at The Plant means being part of a team that fosters a healthy, safe, and positive environment where everyone can grow and succeed. Employees are encouraged to lead themselves and others with a proactive mindset and grow their skills and passion as artisans. Trust, transparency, and integrity are core to our endeavor as we commit to the belief that employee growth drives our clients’ success.

As a UX/UI Lead, you will drive client engagement and satisfaction by understanding their needs and presenting innovative design solutions, conducting comprehensive user research and competitive analysis, creating and testing wireframes and prototypes, designing intuitive user interfaces, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring clear documentation and communication of design decisions and progress.

What you will do

  • Client Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for design-related discussions with clients. This involves understanding client needs, presenting design concepts and proposals, and collaborating with clients to ensure their satisfaction with the design solutions.
  • Competitive Analysis: Comparing products, services, and policies against those of competitors to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in the market.
  • User Research and Usability Testing: Conduct thorough user research activities to gain deep insights into end-user needs, behaviors, and pain points. This may involve interviews, surveys, usability testing, and competitor analysis. Use research findings to inform design decisions and ensure that our products are user-centric. Conduct usability testing sessions to evaluate the effectiveness of design solutions and identify areas for improvement.
  • Wireframing and Prototyping: Create wireframes and prototypes to visualize and test design concepts. Use tools such as Sketch, Adobe XD, or Figma to develop interactive prototypes that simulate user interactions and workflows. Iterate on prototypes based on feedback from stakeholders and usability testing.
  • User Interface Design: Design intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces that enhance the user experience and reflect our brand identity. This includes creating layouts, navigation structures, and visual elements that are consistent with our design system and meet accessibility standards.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into compelling design solutions
  • Documentation and Communication: Document design decisions, rationale, and best practices to ensure knowledge sharing and continuity within the team. Communicate design updates, progress, and challenges to stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.

What we are looking for

  • Proven experience UX design, with a strong portfolio showcasing your design expertise. Varied project experience with consumer, food or retail brands on web or mobile projects, e-commerce would be an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles, usability principles, and interaction design.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and rationale effectively. Experience working directly with clients and managing client relationships is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment, balancing multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • Fluent in both Japanese and English
