We are seeking a creative and technically skilled Prompt Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of AI-powered experiences in WHERENESS. Role & Responsibilities

As a Prompt Engineer at WHERENESS, you will:

• Design, refine, and implement high-quality prompts that power generative AI features for cultural storytelling, site documentation, portfolio presentation, and visual transformation.
• Collaborate closely with designers, engineers, and curators to understand complex user and data needs, and translate them into effective prompt strategies.
• Evaluate AI model outputs (e.g. GPT, Vision-Language Models, Diffusion Models) to improve relevance, tone, and creative alignment with WHERENESS’s mission.
• Develop and test prompt frameworks for a variety of use cases including: metadata enrichment, AI-generated summaries, image-to-text and text-to-image applications, and visitor interaction.
• Work with fine-tuning and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) approaches to optimize the performance and contextual accuracy of LLM-based tools.
• Conduct user-centered experiments and A/B testing to evaluate prompt effectiveness and improve user experience.
• Document and share best practices for prompt design across internal teams, contributing to the evolution of our AI design language.

 

List of Skills

Prompt Engineering & AI Systems

• Strong understanding of large language models (LLMs), prompt tuning, and generative AI systems such as GPT-4, Stable Diffusion, etc.
• Experience with few-shot / zero-shot prompting, prompt chaining, and AI behavior debugging.
• Knowledge of RAG, embeddings, or fine-tuning techniques is a strong plus.

 

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in Python or scripting languages to prototype and test prompts in pipelines.
• Familiarity with tools like LangChain, LlamaIndex, or OpenAI API / Hugging Face Transformers.
• Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript is helpful for integrating prompts into UX workflows.

 

Collaboration & Communication

• Strong communication and documentation skills to explain prompt logic, assumptions, and design iterations.
• Ability to work in a cross-functional team with researchers, designers, and developers.
