Job Purpose

With the growth of our market share comes the growth of our product feature set. We seek a leader to help drive our platform and test management teams. Those 2 teams comprise 8 engineers, and each team is accountable for their product’s infrastructure, backend, front end, and quality. This position is open to oversee the engagement, growth, and success of those 2 teams.

Responsibilities

Create succession strategies and recruit the team members required to fulfill each team's mission.
Share the business vision as well as the team missions with the teams
Facilitate the team’s ceremonies and remove blockers and impediments to support your team's day-to-day operations.
Provide visibility on your team and their progress through reporting on the different metrics, evaluating the team's performance, and engaging with stakeholders through refinements and demos.
Support the product team in delivering fast and high-quality business value.
Be flexible and capable of altering the team roadmap when faced with new information, communicate, and engage the team in delivering new directions.
Identify the different architectural and technical debt challenges and plan their improvement accordingly.
Support cross-team initiatives and facilitate collaboration within the teams.
Build relationships with your reports, support their career development, and motivate members to achieve the team goals.
Empower the engineers and maximize the team's productivity by setting goals, performing evaluations, and utilizing data to improve operational workflow.

Required Qualifications

Being able to work during day hours, 9 am - 5pm JST
Strong motivation and passion to learn and challenge in a new work environment
2 years of Engineering management experience or more
5 years of experience developing software (backend experience is a plus.)
Fluency in English at a business level

Desirable Skills & Experience

Experience in working within a SaaS
Understanding of QA practices, especially test automation

Salary

¥9,800,000 - ¥10,500,000 annually. Reviewed twice a year

Japanese Language Policy
Autify doesn’t require Japanese skills for engineers. All oral and written communications (including slack and all documentation) is in English, so there’s no need for engineers to speak Japanese.
Visa Sponsorship
Autify’s flexible when it comes to helping you get a visa. They’re willing to hire people currently living overseas and sponsor your visa (as long as you fulfill the Japanese visa eligibility requirements). Autify also allows working from abroad while waiting for your visa to be approved.

They’re even open to having people continue to work remotely from outside of Japan longer-term as long as you can be available during normal business hours in the JST time zone.

Remote Work
Autify is working 100% remotely currently, so they don’t require members to live in Tokyo, if you are able to relocate to Japan. They also have quarterly in-person meetings in Tokyo but it’s not mandatory to commute to Tokyo once every three months. You can also join remotely.

Note: We welcome remote work from other countries as long as you can work during the JST time zone. Those living outside of Japan will remotely join quarterly in-person meetings.
Work style
Work hours: Full flex time (No Core Time!)

Autify allows their members to choose their own hours as long as they average 8 hours a day each month. There may be times when you’re expected to join meetings and you may need to be online during the JST time zone, but otherwise work hours are flexible.
