If your role needs interactions with Japanese customers, fluent Japanese language skill is expected. Respect for local culture is important in any places.

Willingness to learn Japanese will be considered as a big plus for candidates.

Currently we expect our members to work from home. They come to the office when there is a need such as setting up computer gateways.

We will mostly likely not ask our members to come to the office every day. Having said that, we consider face time needed for collaboration and innovation.

We are considering a policy of coming to the office 1 or 2 days a week. With that thought, we expect our members to live close enough to do that.

Our normal work hours are from 9pm to 6pm however our engineers are under Japan exempt work system (専門業務型裁量労働制) with flexibility for their work hours.

We believe diversity and inclusion help us develop great products and serve our wide ranging customers all over the world.

Because we are a start-up, we think now is the time to promote an inclusive environment. To be aware of our "unconscious bias" is the first step to create such an environment and all our new hires are expected to learn about unconscious bias.

We have seen many non-Japanese companies' headquarters enforce the way that doesn't necessary work in Japan and local talents are not fully functioning.

At MODE, all the offices are equal and we do not allow our members to call San Francisco Bay Area office the headquarter.
