Your job

The COBRA team focuses on Indeed’s co-branded websites, working closely with partner organizations and our parent company, Recruit. There are hundreds, if not thousands of, job boards and platforms around the world and our team is here to make building and maintaining our products easier, faster and more accessible.

We want to make building a world class job board as easy as creating a Facebook profile or setting up your first Wordpress site, and we need you to help us do this. The team you will be working with builds a product called CORTEX, which enables these partner organizations to build and skin their own job site, powered under-the-hood by Indeed’s world-class architecture and technology.

As a Software Engineering Manager within the COBRA team, you will work in a hands-on role as well as provide leadership to a team of engineers building integrations to partner systems. You will contribute directly to building applications, particularly working with front-end technologies. You will also act as the point of contact for reviewing technical documentation for new integrations, and help coach the team to deliver solutions.

You understand that the best managers serve their teams by removing roadblocks and giving individual contributors autonomy and ownership. You have experience leading successful engineering teams building highly performant web applications. You are passionate about finding solutions to challenging design problems and capable of solving complex engineering tasks. You know that managers are instrumental in making individuals successful and helping them grow in their careers is key, whether learning a new technology or mentoring them into becoming the next managers.

Who you are

  • BS in Computer Science or related area, or relevant work experience as an Engineering Manager with experience building high-performance, distributed systems.
  • Significant prior success as a Software Engineer working on challenging problems of scale, particularly working with NodeJS, React or Spring. Experience with at least one of the following languages: JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, C++, Python or C#. If you have worked with a technology not listed here, don’t worry though!
  • Solid knowledge of data structures, algorithms and a deep understanding of web technologies.
  • Prior experience building cloud-based solutions, especially on AWS would be a plus.
  • A broad understanding of API technologies, such as REST or GraphQL.
  • Strong knowledge of databases, both SQL and NoSQL and experience with service-oriented and event-driven system architectures
