About the Role

We're looking for a content writer to help us produce content for the Japan Dev blog!

Have you worked and lived in Japan? Do you want to share your thoughts with the community? Then this position is for you.

We are looking for part-time, long-term writers! 😊

If you have experience writing and have a background living in Japan, or are a HR/recruiter in Japan and would like to share your experiences, we would love to hear from you! 💙

Writers need to be able to write about topics related to Japan but don't need any engineering experience. 😌

Responsibilities

• Manage the full blog lifecycle: help brainstorm topics, research, outline, write, edit, and format posts for publication.
• Create articles aligned with SEO best practices (ie. identify high-intent search topics focused on life in Japan)
• Deliver publish-ready drafts in Google Docs complete with images and internal links, iterating based on team feedback.
• Communicate with the Japan Dev team via email and Notion.

Requirements

• 2+ years living and working in Japan (current residence in Japan is not required).
• Japanese Skills: Don’t need to be fluent, but it’ll help to have around ~JLPT N2 reading proficiency to handle research when English resources are not available.
• Proven ability to write clear, simple, conversational prose (3rd to 5th-grade reading level); zero reliance on AI tools.
• SEO Familiarity: Experience with keyword research and content optimization tools (Ahrefs, Frase.io, HemingwayApp).
