Responsibilities and Duties
Background of Recruitment
At Money Forward, we provide services that solve financial challenges through the power of technology. Our Fukuoka Development Base is responsible for the development and operation of "Money Forward Cloud Expense," one of our flagship services supporting a wide range of users, from sole proprietors to large corporations.
Since its release, Cloud Expense has grown into a large-scale product that supports businesses of all sizes, from startups to major enterprises. To maintain both "rapid feature delivery" and "high reliability" as we continue to scale, we are looking for a Customer Reliability Engineer (CRE) who embraces proactive operations—going far beyond simple maintenance and support.
We are seeking an engineer who wants to use their technical expertise to untangle complex domain challenges, work at the closest point to our customers, and safeguard system reliability through the power of engineering.
Main Responsibilities
In this role, you will lead the following initiatives for our B2B SaaS platforms, "Money Forward Cloud Expense" and "Money Forward Cloud Accounts Payable," bridging the gap between technology and customer satisfaction.
- Reliability Engineering
- Monitor logs and metrics using tools like Datadog, and define/operate SLOs.
- Lead rapid incident response, root cause analysis (RCA), and the implementation of permanent fixes.
- Improve the health of the development cycle by automating and streamlining toil (repetitive manual tasks).
- Lead investigations and provide technical resolutions for high-difficulty customer inquiries escalated from the Customer Support team.
- Drive the standardization and acceleration of support operations using Generative AI and knowledge bases.
- Full-Stack Engineering
- Develop backend systems using Ruby on Rails and improve front-end experiences with React/TypeScript.
- Execute system-wide performance tuning and architectural changes to ensure high scalability.
- Cross-functional Product Improvement
- Collaborate closely with Customer Support and Product Managers to implement feature improvements based on user feedback.
- Propose and execute refactoring and architectural redesigns to eliminate technical debt.
Required Skills and Experience
Experience in the following web application development and operation:
- At least 5 years of experience and a proven track record in the large-scale development and operation of web applications using Ruby on Rails or other modern languages.
- An ownership-driven attitude; the ability to identify both engineering and organizational challenges as your own and take proactive steps toward resolution.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience developing GraphQL or REST APIs.
- Practical experience in a CRE (Customer Reliability Engineer) or SRE (Site Reliability Engineer) role.
- Experience with monitoring and SLO management using observability tools such as Datadog.
- Initiatives in operational improvement or automation utilizing Generative AI (LLMs).
- Experience handling technical inquiries within a Customer Support or Technical Support context.
- Experience with incident response (handling) and managing post-mortem workflows.
- Experience in infrastructure construction and operation using AWS or similar cloud platforms.
- Experience in AI development and/or experience in using AI tools to improve development processes.
