Money Forward aims to move people’s life forward by offering various SaaS applications for back office operations, and eliminating unessential labor from complex daily tasks, radically changing the quality of and time spent on work.

In Japan, with the “Electronic Booking Act” revised in January 2022, and the new invoicing system that will be introduced in October 2023, the business environment in the corporate accounting field is expected to significantly change. The Digital Invoice Department was established in June 2022 and is designing and developing products that provide users with a better experience in their business operations, and therefore a better life.

Overview

Currently, the products of the Digital Invoice department are developed in multiple locations in Fukuoka (Japan), Vietnam, and India. The Cross-Functional Product Engineering Division, newly established in Tokyo in November 2023, aims to bring cohesion to our products’ disparate development efforts, improve functional integration amongst  products, and eventually enable centralized product/technical strategy.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for cross-functional and technical debt resolution projects related to Digital Invoice products.

The team consists of highly skilled multinational engineers, collaborating with other product teams across the company, and leading large-scale cross-product projects spanning the domains of architecture design, product development, and team building. English is the main language of daily communication.

Responsibility

• Design and develop web applications
• Design and development to facilitate collaboration between products through API integration, data linkage, and microservice implementation.
• Elimination of technical debt and legacy code. Re-architecting.
• Improve team workflow and development processes.
• Engage with internal stakeholders to understand and translate their requirements into the team's technical requirements.
• Support team members through code reviews.
• Other activities such as public relations, and participation in team/organizational development, depending on the individual's intentions

Required Skills/Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies, and work with multiple tech stacks
• 3+ years of web application development experience, with an emphasis on backend development
• Experience owning and leading projects
• Successful track record of developing quality software products and shipping production-ready software
• Experience with Agile/Scrum
• Team player with strong interpersonal skills

• Architectural design
• SRE work on a product team
• Team management
• Frontend development

Language Requirements

• English: fluent, both verbal and written
• Japanese: NOT Required

Salary Range

• Software Engineer III: Min 6,400,000 - Max 7,900,000 Japanese Yen / Year (Gross)
• Senior Software Engineer: Min  7,900,000 - Max 12,000,000 Japanese Yen / Year (Gross)

Location, Remote Work

• Location: Tokyo, Japan
• Remote work is available three days per week.

Flexible working hours (no core time)

• Two days off per week (Saturday and Sunday)
