We collaborate with large Japanese enterprises to create innovative solutions to sustainability challenges, merging our expertise in AI research with our clients' domain knowledge. Founded in 2020 by Tiago Ramalho (former Senior Research Engineer at Google DeepMind) and Katsutoshi Yamada (serial entrepreneur), Recursive focuses on improving efficiency, accelerating innovation, and risk mitigation.

Responsibilities

SaaS & Access Management

Administration: Manage full lifecycles for core tools including Google Workspace, Slack, Microsoft 365, SmartHR, MoneyForward suite, and Zoom.
Auditing: Conduct monthly IT audits across all platforms to ensure compliance and security.
Support: Act as the primary consultant for internal access issues, permissions, and tool integration requests.

Hardware & Device Management (MDM)

Procurement & Onboarding: Oversee setup of MacBooks and iPhones using Apple Business Manager.
Asset Lifecycle: Manage upgrades, Apple Store repairs, and secure data wiping for off-boarding.
Infrastructure: Maintain office network, VPN, monitors, and peripherals.
Connectivity: Manage corporate SIM card contracts and eSIM troubleshooting.

Security & Strategic Projects

Security Oversight: Lead company-wide IT security initiatives and policy enforcement.
MDM Migration: Lead the project to migrate device management from Kandji to SimpleMDM.
Asset System Build: Design and implement a scalable asset management system to replace the current Notion database.

Qualification

Japanese Language Proficiency: Conversational (This is a non-negotiable prerequisite).
English Language Proficiency: Professional level.
Experience: Proven background in IT Operations or System Administration.
Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of macOS environments and MDM workflows.
SaaS Administration: Experience with Google Workspace, Slack, SmartHR, etc.
Networking: Basic knowledge of office Wi-Fi, Routers, and IT security best practices.

Recursive’s development projects focus around the main themes of improving efficiency, accelerating innovation, risk mitigation and better work and education.

Recursive was founded by Tiago Ramalho and Katsutoshi Yamada in 2020. Tiago was a Senior Research Engineer at Google Deepmind and Lead Research scientist at Cogent labs and brings years of machine learning expertise to the company. Katsutoshi is a serial entrepreneur and AI expert with experience in developing and establishing innovative business models in Japan and abroad.

Building on its previous successes, Recursive is now looking to grow and expand its impact further.

Japanese Language Policy
Although Recursive’s engineering team’s main language is English, having Japanese ability is a plus.
Paid Leave

Work style
Contract Structure: Recursive provides one year fixed term contracts for all new employees. The contracts are converted into permanent contracts upon new members meeting Recursive standards and contributing effectively to Recursive’s success.
