Recursive is an Applied AI consulting company based in Japan working on developing solutions to some of these challenging problems. We collaborate with large Japanese enterprises to create innovative solutions to sustainability challenges, merging in our expertise in AI research and our client's domain knowledge. Our development projects focus around the main themes of improving efficiency, accelerating innovation, risk mitigation and better work and education.

Recursive is founded by Tiago Ramalho and Katsutoshi Yamada in 2020. Tiago was a Senior Research Engineer at Google Deepmind and Lead Research scientist at Cogent labs and brings years of machine learning expertise to the company. Katsutoshi is a serial entrepreneur and AI expert with experience in developing and establishing innovative business models in Japan and abroad.

Recursive’s Employment Framework

・Contract Structure: Recursive provides one year fixed term contracts for all new employees. The contracts are converted into permanent contracts upon new members meeting Recursive standards and contributing effectively to Recursive’s success. 

・Flexible Work Hours: Recursive operates on a flex system with the core hours of 10:00 - 16:00. The flexible work hours fosters a supportive environment that accommodates diverse employee needs while ensuring effective team collaboration during core hours.

Responsibilities

SaaS & Access Management
・Administration: Manage full lifecycles (creation, access control, closure) for core tools including Google Workspace, Slack, Microsoft 365, SmartHR, MoneyForward suite, and Zoom etc
・Auditing: Conduct monthly IT audits across all platforms to ensure compliance and security.
・Support: Act as the primary consultant for internal access issues, permissions, and tool integration requests. 

Hardware & Device Management (MDM)
・Procurement & Onboarding: Oversee the procurement and setup of MacBooks and iPhones using Apple Business Manager.
・Asset Lifecycle: Manage device upgrades, repairs (Apple Store coordination), and secure data wiping for off-boarding members.
・Office Infrastructure: Maintain office network and VPN, monitors, and peripherals.
・Connectivity: Manage corporate SIM card contracts (Docomo/Softbank) and eSIM troubleshooting.

Security & Strategic Projects
・Security Oversight: Lead company-wide IT security initiatives and policy enforcement.
・MDM Migration: Lead the project to migrate our device management from Kandji to Simple MDM.
・Asset System Build: Design and implement a scalable asset management system to replace our current Notion database.

Qualification

・Professional proficiency in English
・Conversational Japanese
・Proven experience in IT Operations or System Administration (Required)
・Expertise in macOS environments and Mobile Device Management (MDM) workflows
・Experience administering SaaS suites (Google Workspace, Slack, SmartHR, etc.) 
・Basic knowledge of office networking (Wi-Fi, Routers) and IT security best practices.
・Strong organizational skills to manage hardware inventory and audits.

Japanese language proficiency is a non-negotiable prerequisite for this position, alongside the other listed qualifications.
