We are now developing an advanced MRV (Measure, Report, and Verify) and decarbonization platform for agricultural enterprises, aimed at revolutionizing sustainability practices in the agricultural sector.
Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our dynamic team and lead the development of machine learning components for our innovative MRV and decarbonization platform. This role will be crucial in integrating advanced AI, satellite remote sensing, and comprehensive carbon footprint tracking to provide a holistic solution for agricultural enterprises, government agencies, and farmers.
Key Project Focus:
Development of AI-driven systems for visualizing and managing Scope 3 Category 1 emissions for large agricultural enterprises
Creation of machine learning models like crop classification, yield estimation, soil health analysis using satellite data
Implementation of advanced analytics and machine learning models for carbon/ GHG emission prediction and reduction recommendations
Integration of data from various sources including satellite imagery, IoT devices, local soil analysis facilities, Climate data sources.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the research, development, and implementation of machine learning systems for the MRV platform
- Identify and implement the most effective algorithms, refining models to achieve peak performance
- Assess and analyze the efficacy of models, recommending enhancements as needed
- Integrate machine learning models into production environments
- Work on complex data processing pipelines to handle satellite imagery and IoT data
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align ML development with user needs and regulatory requirements
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to the growth of the machine learning team

Requirements:
- 5+ years of work experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or Data Scientist, with at least 2 years in lead /mentorship role.
- Strong proficiency in Python and experience with cloud platforms (AWS)
- Extensive experience with machine learning frameworks and data processing technologies
- Experience with satellite ( Active / Passive - S1, S2, Landsat, Modis etc.) image processing and geospatial data analysis
- Knowledge of carbon accounting principles and environmental reporting standards
- Experience tech leading cross-team engineering efforts
- Strong software engineering practices including debugging/profiling, version control, and system design
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment
- For Tokyo-based positions: Business-level Japanese language proficiency (both written and spoken)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with or understanding of satellite-based remote sensing and crops, agriculture
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and experience with database systems (RDBMS/NoSQL)
- Familiarity with monitoring systems, logging, operations, and SLO/SLA concepts
- Experience working in AgriTech or environmental sustainability sectors
