About the Role

Joining Conocer means becoming part of a tight-knit team of 57 talented individuals. Our lean development team consists of one product manager and three developers (including one overseas). We primarily work remotely, fostering collaborative, English-centric environments. While other teams predominantly communicate in Japanese for business reasons, we place strong emphasis on cross-functional collaboration with teams such as marketing, business development, and content.

As part of our team, you'll tackle diverse challenges and contribute to the creation of innovative products within project timelines that typically span a few months. Given the nature of our business, our product roadmap aligns with the school calendar of Japan. Additionally, we strive to create a convenient development environment by automating repetitive tasks such as deployment (CI/CD).

Responsibilities

• Build features and products necessary for operating our tutoring centers
• Develop and implement significant improvements to the student app, enabling students to have a user-friendly learning experience
• Develop applications that streamline daily tasks and optimize the time center managers can dedicate to students
• Create a Content Management System (CMS) for generating data and textbooks for our products
• Perform triage when issues or malfunctions arise

Basic qualifications

• 5+ years in web application development
• Experience in using RDBMS (Relational Database Management Systems)
• Strong team-oriented mindset with a focus on conducting reviews, fostering cooperation, and sharing knowledge
• Self-motivated and disciplined to maintain productivity without constant supervision or in-person guidance
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and collaborate
• Time management skills to prioritize tasks, set goals, and manage workload independently
• Business-level English proficiency (Japanese language skills are NOT required)
• Country of residence must be +/- 3hrs of Japan Standard Time (JST)

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in React and TypeScript
• Experience in Cloudflare Workers
• Extensive experience and knowledge in building and maintaining large-scale software
• Experience in Git and GitHub for team development
• Experience in cloud infrastructures with Terraform
• Experience in requirement definition and specification development for real systems
• Experience in development and operation of in-house web services
