Main responsibilities as SRE/Operations engineer:
- Instrument and maintain our production systems to ensure a reliable and observable production environment.
- Equip the team with tools for debugging problems in production, system monitoring and identifying performance problems.
- Enable the team to become proactive in identifying issues with our products.
- Performance monitoring and system capacity planning.
- Make sure that your work is well documented.
- Building, setting up and maintaining development tools and infrastructure.
- Working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes.
Shared responsibilities with the rest of LINK Platform team:
- Define and instrument SLIs and SLOs for our products.
- Work with the team to respond to incidents when SLOs are violated.
- Reduce cost for infrastructure and operations.
- Ensure that thecode is efficient, maintainable and covered by appropriate test automation.
- Perform post-release monitoring and check telemetry in production.
- Contribute to our codebases (Ruby, TypeScript) when necessary to help us achieve the above.
What we’re looking for:
- Able to understand code in common scripting languages used in Web applications (such as Ruby, Python, PHP, JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar). You need to be familiar with at least one language.
- Hands-on experience managing infrastructure with at least one public cloud provider.
- Experience deploying cloud-native applications.
- Hands-on experience building CI/CD pipelines (using CircleCI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar).
- Experience in instrumenting applications using OpenTelemetry.
- In-depth knowledge of at least one monitoring/instrumentation service (such as Sumo Logic, Honeycomb, Datadog, New Relic, ELK stack, or similar), and
- Knowledge on how to effectively use these tools to debug issues and ensure a reliable and observable production environment.
- Experience in scripting and automation (using Slack bots, or similar) is welcomed.
- Understanding of how Web applications work end to end (HTTP, Web services, REST APIs).
- Understanding business need behind every feature, understanding what’s important for our customers.
- Ability to perform in a supportive, collaborative team environment.
- You’re staying on top of recent trends in SRE and operations fields and proactive in introducing state-of-the-art technology to the team.
- You will communicate in English on a daily basis. Proficiency in Japanese is welcomed, but not strictly required.
