Position & Responsibilities

We are currently seeking a bilingual (English and Japanese) Data Scientist who is:

• Passionate about financial markets. 
• Proficient in building and deploying machine learning models in production, preferably with experience in neural networks and/or reinforcement learning.
• Adept at translating academic research into practical applications with strong communication skills and a commitment to professional client presentation, from coding to client interaction.

In this role you will:

• Build mathematically challenging code with a strong focus on machine learning and data science applications.
• Solve future business problems with novel technologies, staying up to date with research and quickly mapping to PoC to assess business applicability.
• Collaborate closely with sales, ML-Ops, and system specialists, meet clients, and present professionally in both English and Japanese.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields
• Experience in Data Science and Machine Learning
• Fluent with python stack: Numpy, Pandas
• Fluent in English and Japanese

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of other programming languages
• Experience in handling big data
• Experience with ML packages/frameworks (sklearn, PyTorch etc)
• Experience with containerized solutions: using docker, kubernetes and AWS
• Capable of following research, reading papers and implementing novel approaches from scratch

Working Conditions

Location

• Tokyo, Japan, close to metro station Otemachi with a hybrid of remote working

 

Working Hours

• 9:00-18:00 but can be flexible upon agreement with your manager
• Overtime: Approximately 20 hours per month (may increase during peak season)
