Senior Backend Engineer (AI Agent Framework)

Job Description

You will be involved in enhancing and optimizing the performance of the AI Agent Framework, which is utilized across the company. This position requires you to implement and lead complex features, such as a fast and scalable multi-tenant runtime environment and interactions among numerous agents, in collaboration with internal and external development teams.

Specific Responsibilities

• Design and development of the AI Agent Framework (core development primarily in Python)
• Building a highly extensible architecture for mutual cooperation among AI agents
• Implementation and operation of a scalable runtime environment for multi-tenancy, real-time inference, and performance optimization in a cloud-native environment
• Collaboration with research teams to define requirements and implement cutting-edge research related to LLMs and AI Agents into products
• Team leadership, leading technology selection and improvements in the development process, and supporting the growth of other engineers

Development Environment

• Languages: Python (framework part), TypeScript / React / Next.js (frontend part)
• Infrastructure: GCP (containers / K8s), Docker
• Tools: Slack, Confluence, Jira, Google Workspace, GitHub, etc.
• Work Environment: Mac (Apple Silicon), dual monitor support, use of internal GPT tools and AI assistants like GitHub Copilot

Team Structure 

• Approximately 30 engineers are on the team, collaborating across multiple core development teams.

*Note This position will be hired by Genie Inc. and will be seconded to JAPAN AI Inc. (both companies are located in the same place). There is a possibility of transferring to JAPAN AI Inc. in the future.

Support for Engineers - Engineer All-Hands Meeting Once a month, all engineers (approximately 170) gather to share success stories and hold lightning talks. A wide range of topics are covered, from deep technical discussions to team management know-how.
Competitive Programming Club As a club activity for engineers, the competitive programming club engages in major activities once a month, such as contests, and weekly activities based on feedback sessions. Members range from orange coders (multiple members) to green coders.

Book Purchase Subsidy There is a system that subsidizes book purchases up to 60,000 yen per year. Engineers can freely purchase books within this limit, and many engineers buy technical books every month.
