Department Overview
The Rakuten Search team creates powerful, customer-focused searches. Whenever a customer visits a Rakuten service and types in a query or browses through product categories, the Rakuten Search services go to work. We design, develop, and deploy high-performance, fault-tolerant distributed search systems used by millions of Rakuten customers every day. Our Search Relevance team works to maximize the quality and effectiveness of the search experience for visitors to various Rakuten services worldwide.
Why we hire
We are looking for an outstanding technical product manager to help Search science and engineering teams define, build and ship search solutions focused on relevance improvement. You will play a pivotal role in managing search relevance improvement at all stages – competitor analysis, customer voice collection, product spec, development, measurement, and as well as messaging. You will also coordinate high-profile projects (across multiple teams) to ensure the product goal is met and our users are satisfied with our search quality.
Position Details
· Synthesize product metrics and market data into actionable product insights to drive decisions and relevance improvement roadmap.
· Lead all aspects of product development including research, specifications, timelines measurement, and messaging.
· Partner with engineering, and research to ensure timely delivery and execution
· Collaborate with other corporate functions and cross-organizational teams to promote technologies and develop roadmaps.
Mandatory Qualifications:
· BS/MS/Ph.D. in Computer Science or related technical field.
· 5+ years' experience in product, program management of technical products or features such as databases, search engines, or machine-learned products
· Deep understanding of complex technologies, including machine learning and natural language processing systems, and how analytics and evaluation data can help improve those products.
· Excellent attention to detail and understanding of the impact of changes to project scope or timeline.
· Outstanding communication skills at all levels of an organization and ability to convey concepts and considerations to non-experts and be comfortable presenting to senior leaders.
· Self-motivated and proactive, with demonstrated critical thinking capabilities.
