Department Overview

Life Media Service Development Section offers a wide variety of services. Kakeibo, Infoseek, recipes, blogs, Minshu, real estate, fortune-telling, and other services that ensure contact with users and contribute to the Rakuten ecosystem.

We, Personal Finance Service Development Group, just released the first version of iOS app in April, 2024.
We are looking for engineers who will work together to create new service value.

We plan to continuously add new features and improve existing functionalities of the Rakuten Kakeibo service. Additionally, as a Tech Lead, you will contribute to the high-quality operation of the service by enhancing the technical capabilities of the team.

Position Details

• Lead and manage the development team as the technical lead for the Rakuten Kakeibo service.
• Oversee architectural planning, conduct code reviews, and resolve technical issues.
• Monitor project progress and ensure releases are delivered on schedule.
• Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to clarify project requirements.
• Evaluate and introduce new technologies and tools to enhance the team's technical capabilities.

Work Environment

Our team is very diverse, with members from various backgrounds.

English is the primary language of communication within the team.

The iOS team consists of 4 members, the Android team consists of 5 members, the backend team comprises 4 members, and the producer team consists of 3 members, with effective collaboration among these teams being essential for project success.

Mandatory Qualifications:

• Over 8 years of experience in application development using Java.
• Deep understanding of SQL and RDBMS (experience in creating complex queries, performance tuning, and data modeling).
• Experience leading a development team as a Tech Lead.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively with team members from diverse backgrounds using both Japanese and English.
• Strong problem-solving skills to address complex and uncertain situations.

Desired Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience in developing native iOS or Android applications.
• Proficiency in designing and building deployment pipelines using Kubernetes.
• Experience in supporting the growth of team members and providing guidance and feedback to achieve goals.
• Expertise in designing applications with a focus on security.
• Experience in setting up and maintaining CI/CD environments.
