Our Tokyo Engineering team is evolving rapidly to address the increasing demands of our customers—from managing a few robots to coordinating hundreds: from operating a small team to structuring multiple collaborative squads. We work closely with leading enterprise customers in Japan to deliver advanced robotics solutions, leveraging rapyuta.io, our cutting-edge cloud robotics platform, and the broader ecosystem. The team's mission is to create pioneering, scalable, and robust robotics systems.

The Systems Engineer will bridge robotics engineers, QA engineers, and Deployment engineers, ensuring seamless integration of robotics software and infrastructure.

The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, collaborative environment and enjoys working directly with state-of-the-art robotics systems and platforms.

The Systems team owns a broad set of responsibilities that collectively support deployment, validation, and long‑term reliability of robotic systems. Team members are expected to contribute to one or more of these areas, collaborate closely with peers, and help the team achieve its shared objectives.

The responsibilities below describe the scope of work handled by the team as a whole.

Deployment Tooling & System Configuration

  • Build and maintain deployment automation and reusable deployment pipelines.
  • Improve standardization and repeatability of deployments across environments.
  • Design and maintain system configuration tooling for validation and consistency.
  • Prepare configuration packages for testing and production deployments.

Quality Assurance Infrastructure & Continuous Integration

  • Maintain and support shared QA infrastructure integrated into CI pipelines for robotic solutions.
  • Enhance robustness and consistency of automated test execution.
  • Support infrastructure for automated validation and nightly regression across hardware–software integrations.
  • Support development and maintenance of hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test systems.
  • Ensure HIL infrastructure integrates reliably with development and validation workflows.

Simulation Infrastructure

  • Build and maintain simulation environments that support safe and scalable validation.
  • Enable development teams to validate changes before system integration.
  • Use simulation outputs for benchmarking, test planning, and performance analysis.

Automation & Long-Term System Improvements

  • Drive automation initiatives that reduce manual operational work.
  • Improve system robustness through better diagnostics, observability, and performance tuning.

Operational & Infrastructure Support

  • Support internal development and testing environments.
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure system readiness for validation and demonstrations.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ year's experience as a Systems Engineer, System Integration Engineer, or Software Engineer.
  • Strong programming skills in Python or C++.
  • Experience working with Linux-based systems and debugging distributed software.
  • Hands-on experience with continuous integration pipelines.
  • Experience using container technologies such as Docker.
  • Familiarity with version control workflows using Git.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with robotics hardware or embedded systems.
  • Experience using simulation tools for robotics development.
  • Practical experience with the Robot Operating System (ROS or ROS 2).
  • Exposure to robotics testing infrastructure or lab environments.
  • Understanding of networking concepts and diagnostic tooling.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • International working environment
  • Access to state-of-the-art technology
  • Collaborate with exceptionally talented engineers

Rapyuta Robotics is a global technology startup that builds cloud robotics solutions. Their goal is to empower lives through connected machines so humans can focus on intellectually challenging and creative work. They have around 110 employees across their offices in Japan and India.

While improvements in technology are helping to make robotics more accessible to markets, the ability to integrate all the required expertise remains a barrier for most companies. Rapyuta Robotics is building a platform to make robots more attainable and useful to anyone.

Their platform makes it easy for businesses to deploy robotics solutions without needing in-house robotics expertise. By integrating robot hardware, software, sensor data, and applications in the cloud — where powerful data centers manage the heavy computation — Rapyuta’s platform lets end-users focus on their business processes instead of on managing robot hardware or software infrastructure.

Empowering Lives with Connected Machines.
Rapyuta Robotics strongly believes that the dirty, dull, and dangerous work should be automated and people should be given an option to take up more intellectually challenging and creative work. They aim to enable this automation with machines that are connected and coordinated.

They hope that robotics will not exclude people, but work for them as a familiar partner, creating new ways of working and new revenue opportunities.
