Responsibilities for the role

  • Hands on and oversees all aspects of IT operations including Help desk, IT infrastructure and staff.
  • As a manager, establish the direction of the Team. also gives appropriate instructions while respecting the autonomy of the team to maximize their achievements.
  • Developing, implementing and evaluating IT projects to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and integration of systems and related standards across organizations.
  • Serve as the liaison between other departments, determining IT needs and requirements.
  • Ensure the maintenance of current projects and technology systems.
  • Identify vulnerabilities, need for upgrades and other opportunities for improvement.
  • Coordinate and/or Streamline technology installations, upgrades and maintenance.
  • Assure all IT activities are performed in legal compliance with all industries and localities that we support for our customers. Ensure working knowledge and compliance for all applicable laws, codes and regulations that pertain to IT implementations and approaches.
  • Evaluate technology risks in order to develop a network, disaster recovery plan and back up procedures for information technology.
  • Build and maintain relationships with vendors/consultants related to business information systems and all internal IT needs.
  • Oversee the annual IT budget and ensure cost effectiveness.
  • Provision equipment, software and services supporting SmartNews’s day-to-day business infrastructure.
  • Drive a culture of balancing user experience and security into the end user workspace.
  • Guide the team through project planning, budgeting, prioritization, and execution.
  • Support employees with various IT issues.
  • Prepare an effective and unique office IT environment for our employees.


Must have experience

  • B.S. in a quantitative field (e.g., comp sci, engineering, economics).
  • 10+ years of proven experience managing IT infrastructure and services.
  • Recent experience working in a similar role.
  • Proficient in IT protocols and standard practices.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, highly organized, and ability to work in a faced past environment.
  • Experience with Mobile Application Management and Mobile Device Management platforms.
  • Experience with endpoint management systems using MDM, EDR tools.
  • Experience with IAM/SSO tools like okta.
  • Experience with client SSL VPN, or other remote access products.
  • Experience with Jira.
  • Experience working at Startups.
  • Constantly watching IT trends in the world and considering whether or not they are effective for our company's issues.
