Description

We’re a startup company which is based in Shibuya, Tokyo. We’re in expanding phase, so are looking for some full-time web engineers.

Our Service and Product
We’re running WorldShopping which enables Japanese E-Commerce sites to sell their products internationally to foreign customers by only injecting a piece of JavaScript tag into their sites. We’ve supported over 1000+ Japanese EC sites like Fashion, Animaon, Hobby, etc. Delivering wonderful products throughout the world is our pleasure.

Development Team
Development team consists of some full-time and freelancers. Some of us are working at the office but most of engineers are working remotely. Our preferences on development are currently like these.

We basically speak in English during team meetings and pair programming. Also, tasks are managed in English. But Japanese is spoken during the meetings involving other teams like Sales, Service and etc.

You would need to pass coding test or pair programming session with us after 1st interview.

Zig-zag runs “WorldShopping”, a service that enables Japanese E-Commerce sites to sell their products internationally. To start selling to foreign customers, all a company has to do is inject a piece of JavaScript into their site. With support for over 1000 Japanese E-Commerce sites in industries like fashion, animation and hobbies, Zig-zag enjoys helping customers deliver their products all around the world.

Their goal is to make worrying about borders a thing of the past and connect and support buyers and sellers to enable world-wide e-commerce through their service WorldShopping BIZ. By introducing WorldShopping BIZ into their site, Japanese E-Commerce brands can start selling to users in over 125 countries. It’s a way for people anywhere in the world to buy Japanese products safely and securely.

Since its inception, Zig-zag has made major progress in breaking down walls that hampered cross-border E-Commerce. The solutions they’ve built use data and logistics knowhow and their patented technology to fundamentally improve the way purchase of Japanese goods from abroad happens.

zig-zag's policies during COVID-19 are as follows:

Zig-zag is working fully remotely.
Participation is optional of course, but they do occasionally have in-person events when welcoming new members.

Japanese Language Policy
For engineers, Japanese skills are not required. Task management and meetings within the engineering team use English, but Japanese skills will come in handy when meeting with other teams since many of them speak mostly Japanese.
Visa Sponsorship
Zig-zag sponsors visas as long as you meet the requirements of the Japanese government (but this is the case at every company). This usually means that you will need a bachelor's degree or 10 years of demonstrated work experience in your field.
Paid Leave
Zig-zag’s PTO policy consists of annual paid leave following Japanese labor law.

The first year an employee joins, they’ll receive 10 PTO days, plus Saturdays and Sundays, New Year’s holiday (12/30-1/3) and all Japanese public holidays.

Each year the number of PTO days granted will increase by one (e.g. 11 days granted in year 2) up to a maximum pursuant with Japan’s labor laws.

Zig-zag provides the first 3 days of PTO immediately after joining, with the remaining 7 days after 6 months at the company (for a total of 10 days).

Remote Work
All engineers are working remotely. Zig-zag does require that members physically be somewhere in Japan, but that’s the only restriction regarding location.

Working hours: 10:00～19:00
