Datadog's policies during COVID-19 are as follows:
During this time, all of Datadog’s global offices are working 100% remotely to keep our employees and their families safe and healthy.
Datadog is still following our normal interview process, just conducting all interviews virtually over Zoom video until it is safe to resume normal activities.
All new joiners are onboarded remotely. We will send your laptop to your home and conduct a remote onboarding session. Your very first session will be with Datadog IT, who will help you get set up on your new device. Because your work device will not yet be set up, this session will be conducted through your own personal device (either phone, tablet, or laptop).We have onboarded over 400 new joiners 100% remotely this year, and those have gone well!
Throughout the company we are organizing daily check-ins with full teams and one-on-one meetings with managers, as well as remote happy hours, coffee chats, and many activities such as yoga, kick-boxing, mediation and pilates. You will be assigned both a mentor and a buddy during onboarding. In your first weeks you can expect to have Zoom open for much of the day while you onramp and get started.
- Japanese Language Policy
At Datadog, we do require a business-level English and Japanese language skill set as we are a global company, and you’ll have the opportunity to interact with colleagues all over the world, while also conducting business and demos with partners and customers across Japan.
- Visa Sponsorship
Currently, we can only accept applicants with valid work visas for Japan.
- Paid Leave
In addition to your annual leave entitlement and 17 paid holidays, all Datadog employees in Japan are eligible for discretionary paid time off, meaning that we give employees the freedom and flexibility to take vacation time and personal days as needed.
For our expecting Moms and Dads, we offer up to 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and up to 8 weeks for non-birthing parents.

- Engineer Interview Process
1) Application Review:
Our recruiting team kicks off the process by reviewing your resume and credentials. You’ll hear from one of our recruiting team members if we think you are a good fit for the position, and we’ll set up some time to chat.
2) Interview:
Our interviews take on average, 2-4 weeks, depending on schedules. We make sure you’ll meet with potential peers, manager, and possibly an executive. While our processes may vary from role to role, you can expect a combo of 1-2 phone interviews, 1-2 on-site interviews, and something like a coding assignment or case study.
3) Selection:
We make our hiring decisions based on the best possible fit for the role. Our teams rate each candidate based on the set of criteria that we’ve designed for each role, and we review feedback from each interviewer to make a thoughtful hiring decision. The recruiting team will follow up with you on an answer after the interview.
4) Interview Survey:
We will send you a post-interview survey so that you can rate how we’re doing. Your feedback is important to us, as we’re constantly looking to improve our interview process and the candidate experience.
- Remote Work
Due to the impact of COVID-19, Datadog members are working from home for the foreseeable future with no plans in place to return to the office until it’s safe for our employees to do so.
